Hi, I’m Jessica Liang, the owner and lead instructor of Finer Points Forensics. I am an IAI certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst, forensic specialist, educator, and content creator dedicated to training the next generation of forensic professionals.

 

I received my B.A. from UCLA and my Master of Forensic Science from National University. I started my career in 2011 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department first as a 9-1-1 dispatcher before promoting to forensic specialist with the Crime Lab. As a forensic specialist, I specialized in crime scene processing, crime scene photography, AFIS evaluation and entry, and latent print comparisons. After 11 years of service with the LASD Crime Lab, I transitioned to a local police department. Over the past 12 years in the forensic discipline, I’ve conducted more than 1,000 crime scene investigations ranging from burglaries to death investigations and officer-involved shootings. I also had the privilege of being a lead photography instructor and a CSI field training officer.

My experience as an FTO led me to discover that my passion was not only forensics, but also teaching and training so In 2023, I decided to launch Finer Points Forensics. Through this platform, my mission is to provide practical, fun, and experience-based training. I am committed to passing down the knowledge I’ve gained so that the next generation of forensic professionals are prepared to serve their communities with competence, integrity, and confidence.
